Robert College
Director of Technology
Istanbul, Turkey
I’ve been working at Robert College (RC) for 18 years. During the last 12 years, I’ve been the Director of Technology. RC aims to promote educational excellence in Turkey. Today RC seeks to graduate young men and women with the skills, insights, and determination to function as leaders and contributing citizens in a wide range of social and cultural roles, both locally and internationally. This aim can’t be achieved without technology. Therefore, to fulfill the mission of the school, I started the 1:1 faculty laptop program in 2004 and provided trainings for the faculty. I’m also one of the co-founders of the 1:1 student laptop/tablet program which started in 2011.

Students need to be encouraged to be life-long learners, to develop creative and critical thinking skills, as well as to acquire knowledge vital for success in the 21st-century world. Foreseeing these needs, I have also started the Student Tech Crew (STC) program in 2011. Since then I’ve been the program advisor. The Crew consists of voluntary students from grades 8-11 and they’re leaders who are receiving continuous education to address technology related issues and needs of peers and teachers in and out of the classroom. Student Tech Crew’s latest project is creating videos in English and in Turkish on how to use programs, applications, shortcuts and guides for peers, teachers and RC Community (such as: the use of iMovie). The second step is to make the video library available to all via an iTunesU course.
I am a member of ADE2015 class.
